Think back on the grade school writing assignments that were dolled out for weekend homework. The subject didn't matter, it was all about the word count. We peppered our pages with the's and that's and but's to reach the magic number required for a passing grade. We didn't think about how succinct the sentences., or if we were telling a decent story.
